Here's how to watch Tony Bennett's retirement press conference

Virginia Cavaliers head men's basketball coach Tony Bennett will officially announce his retirement from coaching in a press conference broadcast live from the John Paul Jones Arena dining room on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.

You can watch the press conference live on the Virginia Cavaliers Facebook page here. The stream should go live at around 11 a.m., with Bennett presumably reading a prepared statement before answering questions from the press, including Streaking the Lawn.

Bennett is stepping down from leading the UVA program after 15 seasons. He compiled a 364-136 record at Virginia, won the program's first national championship, six ACC regular season titles, two ACC Tournament championships and made ten NCAA Tournament appearances.

For Bennett and UVA basketball fans, it will be an opportunity to reflect on the last 15 years and its importance to the Virginia sports world. Thursday's announcement of his retirement was shocking given that the timing of the 2024-25 season was less than three weeks ago.

But Bennett's departure from the college basketball coaching world is a process that has been slowly progressing since the 2019 national championship. Apparently something broke the camel's back this offseason, leading to this amazing news.

Fortunately, it has been confirmed that Bennett's resignation will not cause any health issues for him or his family.

It is currently uncertain whether Bennett's successor will be named at the press conference or not. There are signs that associate head coach Ron Sanchez will be named interim head coach for the 2024-25 season. But that is not confirmed.

Stay tuned to Streaking the Lawn for continued coverage of Bennett's resignation and this morning's press conference.
