US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is believed to have amassed her fortune by investing her public service earnings and collecting royalties on books.

According to Forbes, the 60-year-old Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff's net worth is around $8 million.

Harris spent most of her professional life in government. She first became district attorney in San Francisco and then served as California's attorney general and as a U.S. senator before becoming Joe Biden's vice president in 2020.

Harris was San Francisco's district attorney from 2004 to 2010, earning $200,000 a year in her final years in office, according to Forbes.

When Harris became attorney general of California, she took a pay cut, earning $159,000 a year.

In 2016, the presidential candidate was elected to the Senate and received a salary of $174,000 per year. During his term as vice president of the country, Harris earned $235,100 a year.

According to the latest wealth report disclosure, Harris has invested millions in passively managed index funds.

Harris has demonstrated investments in eight different funds under two deferred compensation plans that arose during her employment in California.

According to Forbes, she was also a participant in some defined benefit pension plans valued at less than $1 million.

Emhoff showed his over 30 investments, which were in various funds and were passively managed. The cash holdings disclosed by Harris and Emhoff amounted to $850,000.

According to Barron's analysis, the couple's holdings, including cash, investments and retirement accounts, are likely to be between $2.9 million and $6.6 million.

The disclosure showed that Harris and Emhoff own a family trust called The KDH/DCE Family Trust.

As part of the author's royalties, Harris has earned more than $500,00 from the books she has written, including Smart on Crime, the 2019 children's book Superheroes are Everywhere, and her memoir 2019 “The Truths We Hold”. .”
