As the queen of Halloween, Heidi Klum knows what it takes to pull off a stunning costume — but that doesn't mean she didn't have to overcome a few hurdles to pull it off perfectly.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the grand opening of Crazy Pizza in NYC on October 29, the 51-year-old supermodel revealed that she had a costume mishap. “When I was an apple, as you know, Seal and he was Eve,” she said, describing her couple's costume with her ex from days gone by.

In 2006 the America's Got Talent The judge wore an oversized apple costume because she was eight months pregnant with Johan, her ex-husband Seal's son, at the time. “I wanted to make sure nothing could happen to the baby,” she explained.

The only downside to the size of the outfit? On the way to the party.

“See, I couldn’t fit anything in, so I couldn’t get through regular car doors. So they had to get me a convertible at the last minute so I could even get in the car and drive there,” she said.

When Klum walks the carpet at her famous Halloween parties, which she has hosted almost every year since 2000, she always thinks about the fact that her wardrobe is broken.

“I always get anxious,” Klum told PEOPLE. “Because there is no real process. I can't do a proper fitting until I'm inside. Because I still don't know if it works. And then something happens and I think, “Oh God.” ”

Still, it's safe to say that Klum hits the nail on the head every time, and that's because of the amount of preparation she does for the one spooky night of the year.
