Harvey Weinstein suffers from rare bone marrow cancer and is being treated in prison | Ents & Arts News

Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein is suffering from bone marrow cancer, according to a report in the US.

Sky News' US partner network According to NBC News, there are two sources I told it Weinstein72, is being treated at New York's Rikers Island prison for chronic myeloid leukemia, a rare cancer that affects white blood cells.

In a statement to NBC News, Weinstein's representative, Craig Rothfeld, said they would have “no further comment” out of “respect for Mr. Weinstein's privacy.”

Weinstein's representatives have previously said he suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis and fluid in his heart and lungs.

Last month, He had to undergo emergency surgery to remove fluid around his heart and lungs, and in July he was hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 fell ill with double pneumonia.

His health problems come as Weinstein awaits a retrial for his 2020 rape and sexual assault conviction, which was overturned by New York's highest court in April.

The Court of Appeal ruled that he did not receive a fair trial because the judge presiding over the hearing was wrong to allow testimony against him based on allegations that were not part of the case.

Although that conviction was overturned, he remained in prison due to another conviction last year for the 2013 rape of an actress in Los Angeles.

He is appealing this conviction.

Weinstein still faces two other criminal charges to which he has also pleaded not guilty, including another charge of sexual conduct and a charge of rape.

Last month, he pleaded not guilty to another charge of sexual assault.
