Vice President Harris is introducing a new agenda aimed at improving the financial and career prospects of black men.

The Harris campaign's release of the Harris campaign's “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men” on Monday comes just four days after former President Obama admonished black male voters for a lack of enthusiasm for Harris in comments that went viral. Obama's comments came as polls suggested former President Trump was making gains among black men, who have traditionally been among the Democratic Party's most reliable supporters.

With just over three weeks until Election Day, the Harris campaign hopes to highlight its agenda to help black men “have the opportunity to advance and thrive” by equipping them “with the tools to they need to achieve financial freedom and reduce costs.” better provide for themselves and their families and protect their rights.”

Proposals include providing 1 million loans that can be fully forgiven for Black entrepreneurs and others to start a business, promoting education, training and mentoring programs that help Black men get good-paying jobs in high-demand jobs Finding industries and leading their communities, including ways to become teachers.

Another highlight of the campaign is a regulatory framework to protect Black men's investments in cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, a health equity initiative focused on Black men and addressing sickle cell anemia, diabetes, mental health, prostate cancer and other health challenges that disproportionately affect them greatly impact and create opportunities for Black Americans in the recreational marijuana industry.

PRO-TRUMP GROUP BLACK SHOOTS BACK AT OBAMA

Former Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, national co-chair of the Harris campaign, said the new agenda aims to ensure “black men are equipped with the tools to thrive: buy a home, provide for our families, start a business and build wealth.”

“Donald Trump could care less about equipping hardworking Americans with the tools they need to get ahead,” Richmond said. “While Vice President Harris promises to equip black men with the tools they need to achieve our dreams and aspirations, Donald Trump promises black people in America a national nightmare.”

To spread the message, the Harris campaign said it is teaming up with Black male celebrities, influencers and activists in key battleground states for “Black Men Huddle Up” events this week. The campaign makes it clear that it is also gaining the support of influential business leaders for a so-called “Economic Freedom Talk” series with black entrepreneurs.

The new effort comes as Democrats grow increasingly concerned about wavering support from black men, particularly younger black men, for Harris, who would make history if elected as the country's first female president.

Harris and Trump are neck-and-neck in the seven key battleground states, whose razor-thin margins determined President Biden's victory over Trump in 2020 and will likely determine the winner of the 2024 White House race. Any decline in support among black voters, and especially among black men, could prove costly for the vice president.

At a Harris campaign office in Pittsburgh on Thursday, Obama recalled the surge of support among black voters that propelled him into history in 2008, becoming the country's first black president. He said bluntly that he couldn't understand why Harris didn't feel the same enthusiasm, noting that the reluctance was “more pronounced among the brothers.”

“They come up with all kinds of reasons and excuses,” Obama said. “I have a problem with that.”

In a direct address to black men, the former president said, “Part of this makes me think that you just don't feel comfortable having a woman as president and that you're coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for it.” That .”

As expected, black Trump supporters were quick to rebuke the former president.

“President Obama’s recent call for black men to support Kamala Harris based solely on the color of her skin and not her politics is deeply offensive,” the Black Men for Trump Advisory Council argued this weekend.

But some Democrats also criticized the former president for his comments, arguing that Obama had unfairly admonished black men without striking the same chord with other demographic groups that have also expressed increased support for Trump.

In another pitch to black voters, Harris will travel to Detroit, in battleground Michigan, on Tuesday to take part in a town hall discussion with radio talk show host Charlamagne Tha God, whose show “The Breakfast Club” is popular with black listeners.
