Road trip! Caddo Cultural Day at the Caddo Mounds State Historic Site | FREE – Head west from Alto in East Texas, where the Caddo tribe shares culture and traditions at the state's historic site. Expect traditional cooking demonstrations, vendors and more showcasing Caddo culture. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Down Syndrome Association of Houston: Houston Buddy Walk at Sam Houston Race Park – Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Down Syndrome Association is hosting an outdoor fundraising walk to support people and families affected by Down's disease. $25. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dia de los Muertos: East End Houston at Esplanade on Navigation | FREE – Navigation Blvd. The Esplanade in the Second Ward is the venue for a cultural celebration of eternal love that includes a day of traditional music and dance performances, a local art and vendors market, ofrendasGroceries, margaritas and more. Noon to 7 p.m.

Texas Mexican Kitchen sweets at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen – In this practical cooking class you will learn how to prepare it Polvoronesflan, capirotada (bread pudding), BunuelosPumpkin empanadas and Mexican hot chocolate. You get to try out your work at the restaurant and get lots of it to take home and share. $70. 1 p.m.

Houston Dia De Muertos Parade and Festival at Sam Houston Park | FREE – The Día de los Muertos Festival returns to downtown with an evening of live music, a parade from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., delicious concessions, crafts and more. Participation in the parade is free, but traditional clothing full of pomp and beauty is recommended. 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

ROCO: Open-hearted in the Church of St. John the Divine – The 40-piece orchestra, led by Grammy-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta, performs two world premieres – that of Jonathan Leshnoff No grain, no pearl and Juan Pablo Contreras' Alma Monarcathat honors his family and the tradition of Día de los Muertos. Diwali Celebration at the Children's Museum of Houston – Experience Diwali with your children, the festival of lights celebrated worldwide, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil in the cultures of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains. Culturally enriching activities will be offered as part of the museum celebrations, including traditional Indian dance evenings, storytelling sessions, rangoli art workshops and more. Gauguin in the New World exhibition opening at the MFAH – The new exhibition spans six of the museum's galleries and examines the arc of Gauguin's career, from his Impressionist beginnings in Paris to his final years.
