Haason Reddick's new agents are keeping an eye on the Jets dispute

Haason Reddick, the New York Jets pass rusher who was released by his longtime agency last week, has hired Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha as his new agents.

Rosenhaus, who has already spoken with the Jets, told ESPN's Adam Schefter that he expressed hope that the dispute could be resolved soon.

“We look forward to working with the Jets to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Rosenhaus told Schefter. “Haason wants to remain a New York Jet for years to come, and our goal is to make that happen.”

Rosenhaus said he plans to attend Monday night's game against the Buffalo Bills, where he is expected to meet with Jets officials.

The 30-year-old Reddick, acquired in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 29, is the NFL's last remaining holdout. The saga took a strange turn last week when CAA fired him as a client. CAA and the Jets held discussions about renegotiating the contract, but Reddick apparently refused to budge on his desire for a long-term contract extension.

This was one of the most bizarre holdouts in recent NFL history. Just last week, Jets owner Woody Johnson made a public plea to Reddick, telling reporters: “Haason, get in your car, drive down I-95 and come see the New York Jets. We can meet you and walk you straight in. “You will like the building, you will fit in well and you will like it here, you will feel welcome and you will achieve great things with us.”

Reddick, who lives in Camden, New Jersey, about 90 minutes from the Jets' practice facility, has missed all team events since the trade, forfeiting about $4.7 million in game checks and another $5 million in from NFL-mandated fines accumulated.

The Jets acquired him with one year remaining on his contract and a non-guaranteed base salary of $14.25 million. Reddick, who had 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons, demanded a long-term contract that would suit top pass rushers. The Eagles decided to trade him instead of paying him.

The Jets offered an extension at the time of the trade, but it was quickly rejected. According to the team, Reddick agreed to play under his existing contract at that time. Reddick apparently felt he was being promised a long-term extension and therefore did not report to offseason events or training camp.

After losing pass rusher Bryce Huff to the Eagles in free agency, the Jets traded for Reddick and sent the Eagles a conditional 2026 third-round pick. If Reddick does not report by Week 13, he will receive no credit for the season and his Contract expires, meaning the Jets would retain his rights through 2025 instead of him becoming a free agent.
