Goldie Hawn remembers her friend of over 60 years, Quincy Jones.

On Monday, November 4, the Oscar winner paid tribute to the late music titan, who died the day before at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 91.

Hawn, 78, shared a message about Jones on Instagram and a photo of the couple laughing together at a gathering. “RIP my darling @quincyjones. It breaks my heart to lose one of the great loves of my life. Sixty years,” Hawn wrote.

“What a privilege to have known such a remarkable person, a genius, a humanitarian. Damned. I will miss you,” she added.

Hawn and Jones' shared creative history dates back to when Jones composed, arranged and conducted the music for the 1969 film cactus flower, in which Hawn played the leading roles alongside Walter Matthau and Ingrid Bergman.

The film marked a breakthrough theater performance for the young actress, as she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Toni Simmons in the comedy.

Over the next few years, she and Jones became close and were photographed together at several entertainment events, such as the filming of the Sammy Davis Jr. 60th Anniversary Celebration TV special in 1990 and the Q-Prize Gala Jones in 2008.

Jones' publicist Arnold Robinson confirmed that the music icon died on Sunday surrounded by his family. “Tonight it is with full but broken hearts that we share the news of the passing of our father and brother Quincy Jones,” the family said in a statement. “And while this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life he led and know there will never be another like him.”

“He is truly one of a kind and we will miss him very much. We take comfort and are very proud that the love and joy that was the essence of his being was shared with the world through everything he created. Through his music and his boundless love, Quincy Jones' heart will beat for eternity.”

Since the news broke, co-workers, friends and admirers alike have shared memories of the legendary producer. Among them, Harry Connick Jr. called Jones a “hero,” Whoopi Goldberg remembered Jones as a “dear friend,” and Jamie Lee Curtis wrote that “his musical legacy is and will be written about for the rest of time.”

LL Cool J called Jones “a father and a role model at a time when I really needed a father and a role model.”

“You gave me opportunities and shared wisdom,” the rapper wrote. “Without you, music wouldn’t be music. My condolences go out to the entire family. I love you. Rest forever in the sweetest music.”
