Giants-Eagles Final Score: Saquon Barkley, Eagles embarrass Giants, 28-3

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The New York Giants fell to 2-5 with a 28-3 no-contest loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants are 0-4 at home this season.

The Giants had 119 total yards of offense, their fewest since Week 1 of the 1999 season, when they had 107 yards in a 17-13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles dominated the Giants. They led 14-3 at halftime and continued through the second half without ever really being threatened by New York.

“Obviously we didn’t do enough offensively. “Hardly any yards, no points,” head coach Brian Daboll said. “Just not a good day, overall.”

Barkley gets the last laugh

How would Giants fans greet Saquon Barkley? With boos both when entering the field and when first touching the ball.

Fans continued to boo Barkley throughout the game, although less and less vigorously as the game got out of hand and the star running back racked up yards.

Barkley responded to the booing with a 55-yard run that led to Philly's first touchdown, a 3-yard run by Barkley. He also had runs of 41 and 38 yards. Barkley finished the game with 17 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles won easily and improved to 4-2 on the season. Barkley was just 13 yards shy of his career high, a 189-yard attempt by the Giants in 2022 against Washington.

Barkley had 187 total yards of offense. The Giants only had 119 as a team. The Eagles finished the game with 339 total yards of offense.

Drew Lock time

The Giants replaced quarterback Daniel Jones with Drew Lock, who trailed 28-3 with 11:26 left. Jones finished 14 of 21 for 99 yards passing. He was fired seven times. Jones had a 10-yard touchdown pass to Theo Johnson, which was negated by an offensive pass interference on Johnson.

The Giants have scored one touchdown and 31 points at home this season with Jones at quarterback, averaging 7.75 points per game this season. Jones doesn't have a touchdown pass at MetLife Stadium this season.

Lock finished 3 of 8 for 6 yards. He fumbled once, but the Giants recovered.

Injuries

  • Special teams player Ty Summers was forced off the field in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
  • Cornerback Cor'Dale Flott suffered a groin injury one play before Philadelphia's 41-yard touchdown pass to AJ Brown. This pass was completed against Flott's replacement, Nick McCloud.
  • Brian Burns, who entered the game with a groin injury, limped through the game but played into the fourth quarter.
