Wilson, who is from Silver Springs, Maryland, according to her Georgetown profile, played for the Hoyas from 2010 to 2013 and served as captain during her senior season.

She appeared in 31 games and averaged 6.5 points per game in her final season.

Fairfax County police released body camera footage of the fatal shooting on Monday.

A psychiatrist had asked police to “conduct a welfare check” on Wilson “out of concern that she was in an agitated state,” and a crisis intervention-trained officer, Peter Liu, arrived in Reston, Virginia, around 10:07 a.m. ET , according to police.

The video showed the officer knocking and introducing himself before Wilson closed the door before the conversation could continue.

Police said the officer knocked on her door for two minutes and 45 seconds while Wilson placed her phone next to the door while music played.

Then around 10:17 a.m. ET, Wilson showed up with a knife in his right hand and slashed the officer.

The officer began to walk backwards and drew his gun while yelling “back away.” Wilson continued to push forward and struck several more times before the officer shot her three times, according to police.

The blows left the officer bleeding as he called for assistance. In another video, Liu was seen bleeding from his forehead while being attended to by a nurse.

Police said Wilson was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while Liu suffered non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

“We all grieve any loss of life,” Police Chief Kevin Davis said during a news conference. “The person whose life was lost in this particular case is no different. She has family and friends and loved ones who love her very much, who care about her and are undoubtedly grieving and upset. We are aware, praying and thinking about this special family.”

Davis praised Liu for how he handled the situation, noting how he backed up as far as he could have gone before running out of room in the hallway.

“The second time she came through the door, she immediately attacked our officer and knocked him out,” Davis said. “It could have been much, much worse.”

He added: “I am very grateful that our police officer is recovering, alive and available for this very difficult task. I think he did an excellent job in very difficult circumstances of trying to defuse the situation and remove himself from it.” The outcome would have changed, but he was simply in a situation where there was nothing to be done There was no winning and his life was in danger.”

According to her online obituary, Wilson worked for real estate and investment management company JLL. The obituary added that she served as an inspirational speaker for young basketball players and volunteered at schools in Washington, D.C.
