As the star of the night, Karly dressed up as the Virgin Mary.

“We came up with a ritual to mark my transformation into a virgin with a sort of 'communion' and reciting a phrase from a spell book I had that had to do with new beginnings and new beginnings,” she explained.

Describing how unexpectedly uplifting it was to dress up as the Virgin Mary, she added: “In some ways it felt empowering to dress up as a revered religious figure to celebrate this milestone rather than be sad about it .”

“The party felt so powerful. More than I thought. I thought it was just a silly little bit of irony that we were doing, but in the end it felt so good to spend a sad anniversary having fun and having fun with the girls.”

Reflecting on the year of being single, she shared how the celebration helped her reclaim the story of her breakup, saying: “Celebrating the growth and transformation I've experienced as a single over the last year has really resonated with me made me feel like I was reclaiming my own power from this situation.”

According to the magazine The beachGirlhood is being redefined in today's digital age, where embracing independence and reclaiming narratives have become an essential part of celebrating womanhood.

Verywell Mind highlighted the rise of voluntary celibacy as more people choose to focus on personal growth and platonic connections.

Many TikTokers found Karly's idea inspiring and shared their own thoughts on individual life anniversaries.

“It's been 3 years – am I becoming a saint?” joked one user, while another commented: “My one-year single anniversary is coming up; I’m doing this right now!”

Sydney agreed, “That would be the funnest way to find out if one of your friends is pregnant.”

Karly concluded: “I highly recommend other women celebrate their breakup days this way. It's a fantastic way to remember how far you've come and create new beautiful memories of the day! It's also a great distraction from texting.” ex.”
