Gabe Vincent credits JJ Redick for a unique role as the Lakers' head coach

After a first year filled with injuries, Gabe Vincent is finally healthy and played in five of the Lakers' six preseason games during their exhibition schedule. Vincent has now completed a complete training camp has more insight than the fans at home how things are going under Lakers coach JJ Redick.

After the team's preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, he discussed how Redick can criticize and address issues with the team without berating his players.

“Overall, I think JJ was, first and foremost, a great communicator,” Vincent said. “Whether he raised his voice a little bit, it never felt like we were being insulted, if that makes sense. It just seems more like he had something serious to address, he addressed it, we took the message and implemented it in the next half. He did a great job communicating with the guys and got his message across very clearly.”

Another thing that has become clear so far this preseason is the kinship between Vincent and Redick. After the Lakers coach got his first win, Vincent made sure he got the game ball.

It's fair to be skeptical about everyone loving Redick so far, but when multiple players all say the same thing on different days, there has to be some truth to it.

Redick wasn't just a great communicator with his players. He has communicated well with the media and shared more information than previous coaches about where he currently sees things.

We know Redick's starting lineup and understand that he wants a nine-man rotation, which currently consists of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, Max Christie, Jaxson Hayes, Dalton Knecht and Vincent.

It was refreshing to hear about the good vibes during the preseason and Redick's jokes about being a basketball sicko, but with training camp and the preseason over, now is the time for that communication to hit the hardwood is implemented.

The Lakers begin the regular season Oct. 22 at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves, last season's Western Conference finalists. This should be a good test of where this team currently stands compared to the best in the NBA.
