Fred C Huff – Walker Funeral Home

Fred C. Huff passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2024. He was born in October 1931 in Lake Shore, Utah, to Mark Huff and Ann Baadsgaard Huff. He grew up on the family farm in Lake Shore, where he learned the value of hard work. He spent his days tending to livestock, milking cows, tending honey bees and hoeing sugar beets. He married his high school sweetheart, Caroline Jean Peden (Jeannine), the love of his life, in 1948 in Provo, Utah, and the wedding was later solemnized in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in August. Fred's greatest love was his family. Fred and Jeannine were blessed with five children: Jolene, Vivian, Kent, Craig and Paul. In addition to her children, her descendants also include 31 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Fred attended Lake Shore Elementary School and graduated from Spanish Fork High. He continued his education at Trade Tech and Brigham Young University before graduating from Wilson Engineering College.

He worked for US Steel in Geneva for 35 ½ years in the engineering department, where he was involved in the design and construction of many of the steel mill's facilities. After retiring in Geneva, he worked for Lake Shore Engineering, Sherwin Johnson Engineering and Rocky Mountain Helicopter, where he designed rescue aircraft. In addition to his work, he taught night schools in Geneva and at Trade Tech in Provo.

Fred was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served throughout his life in various callings, including the Young Men, Sunday School, several dioceses, the high council, and as a bishop. He was called and fulfilled the church's mandate to design and develop a recreational facility. He had a strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ and shared this testimony often.

Fred was an avid golfer and made many wonderful friends at Hobble Creek Golf Course. He played golf until his ninety-second year. In the 1960s, he helped develop and build the new golf course at Hobble Creek Canyon.

Fred is survived by his wife Jeannie, his daughters Jolene Camara and Vivian Nazzise and sons Kent (Diane P), Craig (Diane A) and Paul (Camille), his 31 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Olga Huff. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Howard and Eldon Huff and two sisters Betty Davis and Beth Harris and a great-great-grandson Cache Gottfredson.

Funeral services will be held to honor Fred's remarkable life and legacy. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 495 South Canyon Road in Springville from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and prior to services the next morning beginning at 11:30 a.m instead of until 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 495 South Canyon Road, Springville, Utah.

Burial will be in Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone who has shared their friendship and support over the years.
