Flyers prospect's breakout game came at a great time

The Philadelphia Flyers lost to the Edmonton Oilers in overtime with a final score of 4-3 on Tuesday evening (October 15). Although it was a tough loss for the Flyers, the game certainly had one big bright spot: Matvei Michkov.

Michkov was a big contributor for the Flyers in this game, scoring two goals less than five minutes apart. For his first goal, the 19-year-old winger worked hard in front of the net before finally pushing the puck past Stuart Skinner. Then Michkov shot Morgan Frost's pass perfectly past Skinner for his second goal of the game.

Michkov had a big two-goal game at a wonderful time in this particular game, even though the Flyers lost. This is because Michkov is one of the game's biggest future stars and scored his first NHL goals against the team that currently has the best player in the league: Connor McDavid. This was a great opportunity for Michkov to show the league that he was the real deal.

With this outstanding performance, Michkov has now scored two goals and one assist in his first three games. The 5-foot-10 forward is impressing early and is already considered one of the early contenders for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
