Flick makes several line-up changes

FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick will tinker with his starting XI when the Catalans host Sevilla in La Liga at the Montjuic Stadium on Sunday.

Barca are less than a week away from the Clasico against arch-rivals Real Madrid and go into this clash doubtfully level on points after Carlo Ancelotti's men won a game against Celta Vigo 2-1 on Saturday evening.

At his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Flick confirmed that he has a trio of players who have returned from injury.

“I can confirm that Gavi, (Dani) Olmo and Fermin (Lopez) are ready to play again,” said Flick.

“Gavi's case is very special and I can say he will be on the bench. Fermin is fine and could play for a few minutes. Dani has improved, he will be on the bench and we may focus on Wednesday (against Bayern Munich).”

With regard to Gavi, Flick pointed out that “we have a lot of players in midfield who can play in different positions”.

“It's something I love, but Gavi can play as a six or an eight because of his mentality and the way he channels his aggressiveness and plays with the ball… I spoke to him about his position and those two in particular “Spoken positions,” revealed Flick.

As already mentioned, however, none of the three players mentioned will be in the starting eleven; instead, Flick is relying on a team of three in midfield, with Eric Garcia providing support as the linchpin behind Pedri and Marc Casado.

With Ferran Torres injured, Raphinha resumes his usual place up front on the left wing, while Lamine Yamal, who was previously diagnosed with a “hamstring strain”, takes the right channel on the other side of Spain's current top scorer Robert Lewandowski occupied.

At the other end of the pitch, Inaki Pena will be the starting goalkeeper for both today's game and the clash with Flick's former employers Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

In the defensive line, from left to right, there are Alejandro Balde, Inigo Martinez, Pau Cubarsi and Jules Kounde.

Starting XI FC Barcelona against Sevilla: Pena; Balde, Inigo, Cubarsi, Kounde; Eric, Pedri, Casado; Raphinha, Lewandowski, Lamine
