Fantasy Football Rankings Week 8 (2024): PPR and Non-PPR

play

Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season is officially underway.

Week 7 was another serious injury week for fantasy managers, particularly at the receiver position. Chris Godwin and Brandon Aiyuk suffered season-ending injuries. Mike Evans and DK Metcalf suffered potentially multi-week injuries. Deebo Samuel, DeMario Douglas and JuJu Smith-Schuster each barely played before being eliminated. Yowza.

To help you make your toughest lineup decisions, below are my Week 8 fantasy football rankings. Switch between standard, half PPR (points per reception), and full PPR to see where players rank in your league's format rank.

Our team at USA TODAY Sports Network also has all your fantasy football needs covered. Looking for the latest gaming news? We have it. Want to know who the best starts and sits of the week are? We have an article about it. We also have fantasy defense rankings, kicker rankings, and a trade value chart to help you with all your trading decisions.

Given the volatility of this league, and fantasy football in particular, these rankings will be updated up to half an hour before games begin on Sunday afternoon. Let's get down to business.

Week 8 fantasy football quarterback rankings

  • Stock up: Bo Nix has finished five of his seven starts as a top-20 quarterback, including three top-13 appearances in his last five games. He's an excellent streamer against a Panthers defense that gives opposing quarterbacks the sixth-most fantasy points.
  • UPGRADE: Tua Tagovailoa will return this week, and he'll get a delicious matchup to boot. In 2024, the Cardinals have given up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing signal-callers. Three passers exceeded 23 points against Arizona.
  • Stock drop: Patrick Mahomes finished Week 7 as QB19, meaning he has now been ranked QB14 or lower in 11 consecutive games. A matchup with the Raiders is cause for optimism, but it's hard to trust the two-time MVP with anything other than a QB2.
  • Stock drop: Anthony Richardson has ranked QB19 or lower in three of his four complete games this season, which is not what his draft players were hoping for heading into the 2024 season. The Texans have been generous with quarterbacks, but it would take a real leap of faith to move Richardson into the starting lineup.

Week 8 fantasy football running back rankings

  • STOCK STOCK: Kareem Hunt has totaled 200 scrimmage yards and three scores on 52 touches in his last two games. It's like it's 2017 all over again. As one of the biggest favorites in Week 8, expect the Chiefs to rely on Hunt again while the Raiders give up the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
  • UPGRADE: Javonte Williams broke out for 111 yards and two scores against the Saints in Week 7, and now he gets an even tastier matchup with the Panthers. Carolina gives up 4.0 more half-PPR points to backs per game than any other team.
  • Inventory drops: Chuba Hubbard finished three straight games as a top-10 back after Andy Dalton took over at quarterback, but his Week 8 outlook is headed in the wrong direction. This week he faces a Broncos team that just limited Alvin Kamara to 24 yards on 13 touches, and he'll be doing it with Bryce Young behind center. In two games with Young, Hubbard finished the season as RB66 and RB26.
  • STORAGE ROOMS: Devin Singletary Played just 22% of the snaps in Week 7 and totaled six touches as he appears to be in a timeshare with Tyrone Tracy Jr. There are better waiver options in most leagues.

Week 8 fantasy football wide receiver rankings

  • SET UP STOCK: George Pickens posted five receptions, 111 yards and a touchdown in his first game with Russell Wilson behind center for the Steelers. He's ranked in the top 15 this week in a favorable matchup with the Giants.
  • UPGRADE: Romeo Doubs led the Packers in routes, target share and air yards in Week 7 against the Texans. It's an intriguing play against a Jaguars secondary that yields the fourth-most points to opposing wide receivers.
  • Stock: Josh Downs averaged 10 scores, 8 receptions and 72.3 yards in three games with Joe Flacco, but managed just one reception for 3 yards on Anthony Richardson's return. With the gunslinger spraying the ball all over the stadium, Downs is nothing more than a bank hideout.
  • Stock drop: Wan'Dale Robinson hit a season-low 5.3 half PPR points in Week 7 and will now face an even tougher test this week. The Steelers gave up the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing receivers in 2024.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings

  • Restock supplies: Cade Otton posted season highs in targets (10), receptions (8) and receiving yards (100) in Week 7, and he will now take on a larger role with Chris Godwin out for the year and Mike Evans out until Week 12.
  • UPGRADE: David Njoku tied Brock Bowers for the most goals in the league in Week 7 (14), posting a 10/76/1 record. He now gets an upgrade at quarterback, with Jameis Winston taking over as the starter, and he's going up against a Ravens team that has allowed the most receiving yards to tight ends this season.
  • Inventory drops: Dalton Kincaid has only gone above TE14 once all season, and he has yet to surpass 60 yards. There's no need to shy away from this matchup, but Kincaid is more of a TE2 than a TE1 at this point.
