Fans are questioning the Colts' decision to bench Anthony Richardson following issues with Joe Flacco

The Indianapolis Colts' offense struggled greatly during their loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9, leading fans to question whether declaring Joe Flacco the starter instead of Anthony Richardson was really the best move for the franchise .

As Richardson, the organization's first-round pick two years ago, watched from the sidelines, the Colts failed to score a single point on offense. Their 13 points in the 21-13 loss came from a defensive touchdown and two field goals from Matt Gay. Flacco was far from his best, throwing for 179 yards and no touchdowns alongside one interception, while also losing a fumble. It was his fewest passing yards in a game he started this season.

Richardson also struggled before being demoted from the starting lineup, but it's fair to assume he could have provided just as much, if not more, to the Indianapolis offense than Flacco did on Sunday night.

Many NFL fans seemed to agree, voicing their criticism of coach Shane Steichen's decision to work with the 39-year-old instead of developing the franchise's 22-year-old gunslinger.

With the offense showing no signs of improvement under Flacco in Week 9, the team's decision to bench Richardson could face further scrutiny if there is no upward trend in Week 10, when the Colts take on the Buffalo Bills shows.
