The hit series from Netflix Outer Banks may be coming to an end – but for the show's cast, it will always be Pogue's 4 life.

The streaming service was renewed in November 2024 Outer BanksStarring Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Jonathan Daviss and Carlacia Grant in the fifth and final season.

Creators Shannon Burke, Jonas Pate and Josh Pate wrote a “message to all the Pogues” reflecting on the OBX journey they had always planned for five seasons.

“In the summer of 2017, we came across a photo of teenagers on the beach at dusk during a power outage. “From the photo came the idea for a story about four best friends who just want to have a good time,” read the letter posted on Instagram. “From that beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting and friendship.”

Burke and the Godfather twins also previewed the final episode of Season 4, Part 2, which premiered on November 7th. They shared that the feature-length episode, which featured a stunning death, set the stage for an “epic” finale to the season.

“We hope to bring our beloved Pogues home the way we imagined and planned years ago,” they wrote to fans. “We hope you will paddle with us again for a surf break.”

What will Outer Banks Be season 5?

Netflix has not released a synopsis Outer Banks Season 5, but Burke told Tudum that the Blue Crown treasure hunt “should see us through to the end.”

Beyond the treasure hunt, fans will likely still be mourning the death of the beloved JJ, who was killed by his biological father Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane) in Morocco. The Pogues have vowed to avenge JJ's death – a storyline that will likely play out in Season 5.

Burke and the Godfather twins told Tudum that they had always expected JJ's death since the beginning of the series. “We are planning a story of redemption and a season that embodies the friendship that JJ came for,” Josh said. “JJ's death was a tough but necessary part of the architecture of the story, and we plan to honor that as much as we can because we love the character as much as the fans do.”

The final season of Outer Banks Additionally, John B and Sarah will struggle with parenthood after the “Kook-turned-Pogue Princess” discovers she is pregnant in Season 4, Episode 7.

As for the final scene of the series, it was solidified by the co-creators years ago.

“We always knew from the beginning what the final scene would be if we were lucky enough to get that far,” Josh told the outlet in February 2023.

Which actors are returning? Outer Banks Season 5?

Most of them Outer Banks Stars are expected to reprise their roles, including Stokes, who plays John B.; Cline, who plays Sarah Cameron; Bailey, who plays Kiara Carrera; Daviss, who plays Pope Heyward; and Grant, who plays Cleo.

They will likely be joined by supporting cast members Drew Starkey, who plays Rafe Cameron, and Austin North, who plays Topper Thornton.

After JJ's shocking death in Season 4, Pankow will not be returning Outer Banks Season 5.

“I would like to extend my biggest thank you to the cast and crew. It was a great pleasure to come to work,” he told Tudum. “This is by far the greatest thing I've ever done and having this as a starting point is a start to my life. “I'll miss it. Thank you for so many beautiful memories that I will have for the rest of my life.”

With the end of Outer Banks On the horizon, the cast must come to terms with saying goodbye to their beloved characters.

“It is heavy in my heart to write this. One last ride. Thank you to everyone who has been involved over the last five years. “You have given us more than we could ever give you back,” Stokes wrote on Instagram, addressing the news of a fifth and final season. “It will always be Pogues 4 Life.”

Bailey was at a loss for words after the announcement.

“I don't even have the words, just a lot of feelings, but no goodbye yet! Let’s do this,” she wrote on Instagram Stories.

When is that the case? Outer Banks Will filming begin for season 5?

Production is underway Outer Banks Season 5 hasn't started yet. However, according to Tudum, Burke and the Pate brothers are working diligently to finish the script.

When will Outer Banks Season 5 premiere?

A release date for Outer Banks Season 5 has not yet been announced, but seasons 1 through 4 are available to stream on Netflix. And Burke and the Godfather brothers say the final season will be worth the wait.

“We believe it will be our best (season) yet,” the makers said in their letter to fans.
