Everton v Crystal Palace: Premier League – BBC Sport

Dwight McNeil's second-half brace gave Everton their first Premier League win of the season against winless Crystal Palace, relieving pressure on coach Sean Dyche.

The Toffees had picked up just one point from their opening five games and although Saturday's contest didn't start particularly well, the win saw them slip out of the bottom three for the first time this season.

Palace took the lead after 10 minutes through English central defender Marc Guehi, who reacted quickest to a corner from Maxence Lacroix and fired in from close range.

Set pieces have caused problems for Everton this season and they almost conceded again, this time through a header from Daniel Munoz that was cleared off the line by Iliman Ndiaye.

At the other end, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and McNeil failed to convert their headers as Everton struggled to train visiting goalkeeper Dean Henderson in the early stages.

But the home side responded immediately after the restart when McNeil's powerful shot from distance shot past Henderson and into the back corner of the net.

The equalizer brought the crowd to life and Everton quickly grabbed their second goal. McNeil controlled Jack Harrison's cross before firing a volley from the corner.

Oliver Glasner's side were hardly dangerous after an impressive opening period and need to improve, having only picked up three points in their six games so far.

More to follow.
