“This is really hard to write, but so many of you loved and cared about Ben that I wanted to let you know. We found out today that the cancer had spread to Ben's organs and there was nothing we could do – we had to let it go.” he leaves.

Herbstreit, a self-proclaimed dog lover, spoke at length about his special bond with Ben.

“He was smart, loving, gentle, patient, curious and hospitable to all. Always with a big smile and a gentle wag of the tail. He and I were able to communicate I am at home more than anyone else and travel with me for work – but he will live in all of us forever. God bless his majestic soul and thank you for letting him into my life for the last 10 years – a true blessing. I love you, Ben.”
