It will be a happy and cool start to the day. There will be a short break between storms as the next one hits Tuesday night.

We will see increasing clouds over the Plains Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures in the lower to mid 50s. Snow will fall in the mountains west of the Continental Divide by late morning.

This system's cold front will move over the Denver metro area late this afternoon, dramatically reducing temperatures and increasing winds. Behind it there will be isolated rain showers towards the evening, which will then quickly turn into snow.

The snow will stick around the city overnight, potentially giving us our first official snowfall of the season. Snowfall amounts will be minimal across northern Colorado, with about 1 to 3 inches accumulating in the Denver metro area. There is likely to be heavier snow south and west of Denver. The commute to work on Wednesday morning could be icy, slow and slippery. Stay tuned as we refine the snowfall forecast.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the foothills of the Southern Front Range and portions of the Palmer Divide in Douglas and Elbert counties from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. So far it looks like 5 to 10 inches of new snow will accumulate.

This storm will weaken late Wednesday and Thursday morning. It will be a chilly Thursday with highs in the 30s in the metro. Look for mid 40s on Friday with sunshine and 50s over the weekend!
