Durant's loss of the ball allows his teammate to extend his scoring streak while the defense delivers

The LA Rams offense is struggling right now. Despite putting the most expensive offense In the NFL on the football field in 2024, scoring points is not good for the team. At least not yet. The Rams offense struggled not only to score in this game, but also to even get the football into Las Vegas Raiders territory. It felt like the team was so afraid of doing something wrong that the team couldn't get anything right.

So it was up to the defense to set the course for their second win of the season.

The first turning point of the game came with 4:47 left in the second quarter. New quarterback Garner Minshew tried to throw to the Las Vegas Raiders' favorite target, rookie TE Brock Bowers. But DB Cobie Durant played possum, skipping the route and fending off Minshew for the Rams defense's first turnover of the game.

That got the Rams' offense going with the first down and 10 yards left at the Raiders' 47-yard line. The offense needed just four plays and 1:47 to drive the ball into the end zone, capped by a thunderous 13-yard touchdown dash from Rams RB Kyren Williams.

This extends Williams' touchdown scoring streak to nine consecutive games. And that, according to the statement, is now the longest active scoring streak in the NFL CBS play-by-play commentator Kevin Harlan.

But Cobie Durant wasn't done yet. On the Raiders' next offensive series, Durant had a strip sack on Raiders quarterback Garner Minshew. His teammate Kamren Kurl picked up the loose football and ran for a touchdown.

Of the 108 points this team scored, 14 points were scored by the defense. That means their offense averaged just 15.7 points per game, which ranks 30th among offenses in comparison.

Thank God for Kyren Williams.

Maybe this offense needs to win ugly. Maybe the defense leading the team to victory will force the offense to rethink its mission. I don't know if fans can rely on this defense to dominate an opponent in a similar manner in the future.

But if this team wins, three game balls must be distributed. And they go to:

Hopefully we can add more names to the list in the second half.

As always, thanks for reading.
