Donte DiVincenzo chirps on the Knicks bench and gets into an argument with Knicks assistant Rick Brunson after the game

In the aftermath of the Blockbuster trade that sends Karl-Anthony Towns to New YorkMost of the focus was on KAT and how he felt moving from the only team he had ever played for, from a city where he was firmly established, to a new home.

Donte DiVincenzo hasn't been talked about much, but he also had feelings about the trade and let them out when New York traveled to Minnesota for a preseason game on Sunday.

At first, DiVincenzo barked at the Knicks' bench, sounding like he was saying, “Thanks for the trade,” although he might have said more jokingly, “I can't finish, can I, Thibs?” to Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, who was standing at the scorer's table at that moment. Here is a clip of that moment without the broadcast audio. Decide for yourself what you think he said.

The real fireworks came after the game when DiVincenzo got involved with Rick Brunson, a Knicks assistant coach and father of Knicks star and DiVincenzo's good friend Jalen Brunson. The usual friendly handshakes after the game raised the temperature a little. Cooler heads intervened and broke off the conversation while it was still at this stage.

After the game, DiVincenzo talked about it all, saying he jokes with Thibodeau, but not so much with Brunson.

Jalen Brunson was asked about it after the game and brushed it off by saying, “Two people talking, words of affirmation.” Tom Thibodeau relied on a proven defensive line: “I didn't see that. Two competitive guys. “Something like that happens.”

Minnestoa thwarted the Knicks' interest in a trade for Towns for more than a year until DiVincenzo became part of the offer. That's when Minnesota made the move, and so far the veteran guard has delivered on everything they hoped for in the deal.

Mark your calendars for December 19th, which will be the first meeting of these teams in the regular season, a game in Minnesota (where Towns will get a big reception when he returns; he was very popular there).
