Diddy's Legal Team Claims Media Including The Daily Beast Is 'Assassinating' His 'Character'

Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed for a gag order prohibiting his alleged victims and their attorneys from speaking to the media. He cited outrage over several reports in the US media, including an article in The Daily Beast in which a victim's lawyer said she believed Diddy laced baby oil with rape drugs to incapacitate a woman, Ashley Parham , who claims she was raped by Combs.

Combs' legal team wrote to Judge Arun Subramanian, saying that Combs' right to a fair trial was at risk and that “potential witnesses and their attorneys have made numerous inflammatory out-of-court statements designed to assassinate Mr. Combs' character in the press.” .”

The letter cites several examples of allegedly unfair media coverage, including coverage on NBC, CBS and ABC. It continues: “Some have even spread outlandish conspiracy theories. See e.g. B. Tom Sykes, “Diddy Spiked Baby Oil With Date Rape Drug: Accuser's Lawyer, Daily Beast…” (The accuser's attorney claims that, based on her “research,” “baby oil could be used as a 'conduit' for date rape. “Medications like GHB or Rohypnol”).

The Daily Beast contacted Combs' legal team for comment before reporting an alleged victim's claims in documents filed with the court. The allegations were horrific, but all we received was a response in the form of an answer.

Combs' legal team said its new request was “time-sensitive” and asked for a response by Oct. 30. She noted: “Every day that passes brings with it a new wave of publicity, often at the direction of prosecutors and their lawyers. which further prejudices Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial.”

In a new complaint filed Tuesday, another anonymous victim, represented by attorney Tony Buzbee, who was criticized by Combs' team for encouraging alleged potential victims to contact him via a 1800 number, alleged in court papers that She was “drugged and raped by Combs” at a house party in Manhattan hosted by Combs. Those in attendance included Combs himself and other celebrities.”

The alleged victim, “a 29-year-old independent music artist who wrote, sang, rapped and produced music,” said she was approached by Combs, who offered to help with her career.

She said she only drank a glass of wine but soon felt disoriented and suspected she had been drugged, claiming she was subsequently raped by Combs in an office. The lawsuit states: “Due to the effects of her drugged drink, Combs raped and sexually assaulted Plaintiff. The plaintiff could not stop him, as if she were trapped in her body, not participating but unable to resist.”

Combs' lawyers have previously maintained their client's innocence, telling The Daily Beast: “The truth will prevail in court: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone – adult or minor, man or woman.”
