    Delaware should elect Mike Ramone as governor

    Re “Opinion: Delaware should elect Matt Meyer as our next governor | Editorial,” DelawareOnline.com, October 24:

    After 32 years of Democratic rule since 1992, Delaware is in desperate need of a political cleansing.

    If concerned Delawareans want to break free from Democratic one-party rule and move forward, the leadership at the top must change.

    Our greatest hope is to elect Republican Mike Ramone as our next governor. He is qualified to boldly lead our state in the 21st century.

    None of our citizens should be happy about the failure of Delaware's public school systems, our out-of-control state budget, or our ever-increasing taxes for the foreseeable future.

    Does anyone really believe that continuing to elect Democratic governors will change the current trajectory of our failing state government?

    A closer look at Republican Mike Ramone's resume is certainly warranted to confirm the likelihood of his success following his election as Delaware's new governor.

    It wasn't easy for Ramone to achieve electoral success to win his seat in the House of Representatives. After his fourth campaign in the 21st electoral district, Ramone was finally elected in 2008.

    Having served as a legislator in Dover for over ten years, Ramone's experience sharpened his political skills and made him the perfect candidate for successful government.

    Most recently, he served as Republican minority leader in the House of Representatives and gained the ability to work across party lines and get things done.

    During his time in office, Republican Ramone has earned a reputation as a hard-working public servant who is determined to solve problems and ensure that our Delaware government serves all citizens.

    Not all quality of life issues affecting Delawareans are adequately addressed by our lawmakers, but that hasn't stopped Rep. Ramone from seeking a solution.

    Here is a topic he addressed in December 2017. As a Republican member of a bipartisan contingent led by Smyrna Democratic Senator Bruce Ennis, Ramone traveled to open family court in Hartford, Connecticut, considered one of the best open family relationship court in the United States.

    I personally witnessed Ramone watching intently as he toured the various public courtrooms and took many notes on how to properly run a family court in order to resolve the matters before the court quickly, politely and competently.

    If we elect Ramone as our new governor, he could potentially lead another contingent to Connecticut, this time with the chief justices of the Delaware Supreme Court, Supreme Court and Family Court.

    These judges may be able to see for themselves how Delaware Family Court could be reformed to adequately serve its citizens.

    This is just one example of many of the leadership qualities required of a governor.

    When voters cast their ballot for Ramone, they can be assured that he will work diligently to serve all of our citizens in Delaware by putting his best foot forward.

    A vote for Republican Ramone is a vote for the long overdue change in leadership to ensure a better future for our state in the remaining balance of the 21st century.

    Your vote for Republican on the ballot will place a proven and competent official in the Delaware governor's chair.

    Dave Graham of Smyrna was a candidate for governor of Delaware in the 2020 Republican primary. In 2014, Graham was the Independent Party of Delaware's candidate for attorney general in the general election.
