Dave Matthews Band Announces Soulshine Benefit Concert for the Victims of Helene and Milton

CNN

The Dave Matthews Band announced Tuesday that it will host an upcoming concert benefiting victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

“Soulshine” takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 24th, following the Dave Matthews Band concerts that were scheduled to take place there the previous two evenings.

The event features a packed lineup that includes the Warren Haynes Band – hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, which was heavily impacted by the storms – Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and Goose, as well as special guests including Trey Anastasio, Mavis Staples and Robert Randolph, Trombone Shorty, Joe Russo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks.

All net proceeds will benefit the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation's “Soulshine” Concert Fund, which supports Habitat for Humanity's 2024 Hurricane Recovery Fund and several nonprofit organizations in North Carolina and Florida, the states hardest hit by the storms, according to Dave Matthews Band website.

Last month, Helene unleashed record-breaking rainfall across the Appalachian Mountains and western North Carolina, causing devastating flood damage. In recent weeks, the death toll has risen to over 200 people in six states.

After Hurricane Katrina, it is the second deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland United States in the last 50 years.

Less than two weeks after Helene, Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a Category 3 storm that brought extreme rainfall, strong winds and widespread power outages. At least 17 people died as a result of the storm.

Other concerts announced to benefit storm victims include the Ben Folds show “From Wilmington, with Love,” taking place Tuesday in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tickets for Dave Matthews Band's Soulshine go on general sale Thursday at 10 a.m. EDT.
