Shortly after the New York Jets' loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the team's management made a blockbuster trade.

Multiple reports surfaced Tuesday morning that the Las Vegas Raiders and Jets had agreed to a deal that would send star wide receiver Davante Adams.

The Jets later confirmed the transaction that sent a conditional 2025 draft pick to New York in exchange for Adams. Just hours after news of the trade broke, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers publicly commented on the deal during his routine appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

But Rodgers' guest appearance on the ESPN broadcast proved anything but routine when Adams suddenly appeared on the screen behind the quarterback.

Adams even took a moment to seemingly share his excitement about reuniting with Rodgers. “We’re back, man,” Adams said. “We’re back.”

Adams and Rodgers began their respective NFL careers as members of the Green Bay Packers. Adams left Green Bay after the 2021 season, while the 2022 season marked Rodgers' final season with the Packers.

Adams was sidelined for the Raiders' final three games as he recovered from a hamstring injury. But when asked about the injury on Tuesday, Adams said he felt “great.”

“I’m doing great, man,” Adams told McAfee. “I feel great. I've been working with the staff in Las Vegas the whole time and they've got me sorted out so I'm fortunate to be able to move on.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers said he was “really excited” to have another opportunity to throw passes to his longtime friend.

“He’s a phenomenal player and a dear friend,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “It was obviously a shitty day yesterday. We had a really good chance to make it 3-3 and win a home game. We kind of gave that away.”

“I was p—-d, driving home through traffic, had a few texts, I just wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. When I got home, (Adams) had called and texted me, so I finally called. “He's back. I don't know, about 12:30, 12:45 last night I heard the news.

Adams and Rodgers developed chemistry during their time together. The wide receiver expressed confidence as he discussed his new challenge of learning the subtle differences in the Jets' offense in a relatively short period of time.

“I’m sure there are some new little nuances, but mostly the same wording,” he said. “Still the same OG here, so we should be able to pick up where we left off. That’s the idea.”

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, described Adams as someone who is “at the top of the list of guys (in the league) that I really care about and are like family to me.”

“He made me look good a lot of times,” Rodgers said. “I'm very happy about it. I think it's exciting for our team. We definitely got better today.”

Rodgers added that Adams can essentially learn some things through “osmosis” and praised the three-time All-Pro for his leadership skills.

“He is a proven star player. He is an asset. He has an incredible presence in the locker room,” Rodgers said. “I think it will really help Garrett (Wilson). I think when you're in a position to be around a guy who's been doing it at a high level for a long time, just seeing how he goes about his process by osmosis will be a lot of things that he can pick up on.

The Jets will look to get back to winning ways later this week when they travel to Pittsburgh for a game against the Steelers.
