Dallas Cowboys Bye Week Guide and Watch Guide for Disgruntled Fans

There is no football for the Dallas Cowboys this weekend. The team's Week 7 bye seemed too soon at the time the schedule was released, but after the 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions, it was clear they needed time to regroup and focus.

Next weekend they face the San Francisco 49ers, who have been a thorn in their side for years. While it may seem like a daunting task, it is actually a huge opportunity for this team to completely change the perception around them.

Before we move on to this game, however, let's look around the league and offer a rooting guide for the bye week.

Here are some games to watch and how the outcome may affect the Cowboys.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton

The Washington Commanders are in first place in the NFC East with a record of 4-2. This is a bit surprising, but kudos to Dan Quinn for the job he did.

This weekend they host the Carolina Panthers, who are 1-5. It will probably be a one-sided win for Washington, but we can still pull off an upset.

Just behind Washington to the east are the Philadelphia Eagles. They've had more than their share of problems this season, but started 3-2. They travel to New Jersey to take on the New York Giants. The Giants are in last place in the East with a record of 2-4. They are also less dangerous than the Eagles when it comes to winning the division or securing a playoff spot. That's why they're the ones excited about this weekend.

This is really a mistake. The Atlanta Falcons (4:2) and the Seattle Seahawks (3:3) are tied at the top of their divisions. They are also both in play for wild card spots. The 49ers are the favorites to win the NFC West, so the Seahawks have a better chance of battling Dallas for a Wild Card spot. Then let's move on to the Dirty Birds.

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry

There are also several interconference games, which makes it easy. In any of these scenarios, the AFC is the one to rely on.

Texans at Packers
Chiefs at the 49ers
Ravens at Buccaneers
Chargers at Cardinals

Of course, the playoffs aren't that close yet, but it's never too early to start thinking about the seedings. Any time an AFC team beats an NFC opponent, it's a big win for Dallas. They can watch a conference rival lose a spot in the standings while the AFC win doesn't hurt them.
