Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott isn't reaching for the panic button after the team fell to 3-4 thanks to Sunday's 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

“We know what’s important in this league. You’re hot, you’re getting going, that’s all you want to do,” he told reporters after the game. “That’s my point, that it’s frustrating, but no one gives up. No one is shaken, as you might say, where we are. We just need to focus, prepare for the trip and have another good team. “Let's come and do everything we can to get a win. Then we worry after the next away game.

It's true that the Cowboys could theoretically go on a lengthy winning streak that would allay any fears they've raised during their disappointing start. However, there is not much evidence that this is happening.

Dallas had an extra week to prepare and allowed 469 yards to a 49ers offense missing running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Wideout Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle played less than 100 percent as they were both listed as questionable until game day.

Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook combined for 46 yards on 16 carries, while Prescott threw two interceptions and averaged 6.4 yards on his 38 attempts.

The longer this season goes on, the more you come to an inescapable conclusion about the Cowboys. They are a mediocre team whose offseason inactivity allowed them to be overtaken by their NFC rivals.

Making head coach Mike McCarthy a lame duck was an odd decision. An adequate replacement for leading rusher Tony Pollard was not found and now the team has the NFL worst rushing attack. The passing game is still way too reliant on CeeDee Lamb. In hindsight, perhaps we should have paid more attention to the fact that Dallas had a more passable defense.

Maybe it's time for the Cowboys players to get “shocked” because they need to do something to snap out of their panic.
