Commanders Fantasy Football begins and runs in Week 9 at the NY Giants

The New York Giants are good competition at every position in fantasy football. This Washington Commanders team is much different than it was in Week 2 of the season when it last faced its NFC East rivals. It's another good chance to build on the sensational 6-2 start to the season.

Because of this, the Commanders should have an even better game this round, especially on the offensive side of the ball. However, taking the Giants lightly is not an option considering their dismal record at MetLife Stadium in recent years.

There are a lot of great matchups, so let's take a look at which Commanders players you should start or sit in Week 9 from a fantasy football perspective.

Begins

Jayden Daniels

Despite suffering a rib injury against a good defense, Jayden Daniels had a good fantasy performance in Week 8. The Hail Mary miracle certainly helped him, but it was still a good fantasy performance.

The Giants are giving up the 11th-most fantasy points to the quarterback position this season, which is good news for Daniels' success. Now that the rib problems are a week away, it shouldn't bother him much anymore and the accuracy issues he suffered from last week should go away.

Start Daniels as a top-three quarterback option this week.

Brian Robinson Jr.

Brian Robinson Jr. posted a career-best 133 rushing yards in Week 2 against the Giants. Depending on his hamstring complication, he could very well have a similar game this week.

The Giants give running backs the 17th most fantasy points, which is more in the middle of the pack. That shouldn't be a problem for Robinson, especially if he can find the end zone this week, which he has done in five of the seven games he has played this season.

The Commanders will likely look to pound the ball in the run game if they take an early lead. Start Robinson as a high-end RB2 this week.

Terry McLaurin

Terry McLaurin didn't have the best fantasy day in Week 2 against the Giants, but that was largely because Daniels wasn't unleashed yet. Since that contest, he is the WR3 for the season, averaging 18 points per game.

The Giants give the wide receiver position the 16th most fantasy points. Start McLaurin as the WR1 this week and he's a must-have any week at this point.

Austin Seibert

Austin Seibert is by far the season's overall K1 candidate, averaging 1.3 points per game more than season's K2 candidate Chris Boswell.

Seibert should be in your lineup every week.

Defend commanderse

This could be the first week you can play Commanders Defense with confidence. Maybe they're even good. It got better every week and performed well against the Chicago Bears in Week 8.

This allows you to play Commanders Defense in good match-ups. The Giants' offense is currently giving up the third-most points to the opposing fantasy defense.

Start defending commanders against waiver wires this week.

Sits

Austin Ekeler

It's been a few weeks since Austin Ekeler had a good fantasy performance. Unfortunately, this can continue for the Giants.

We should expect the Commanders to maintain the lead against the Giants. Because of that, Robinson will likely get the bulk of the work if he's healthy enough. There's still a chance for Ekeler to turn some touches into a solid fantasy play, but that's unlikely since he's the primary back.

Keep Ekeler on your bench this week unless you're desperate for a flex game.

Zach Ertz

The Giants are currently the third-best team against fantasy tight ends this season. Zach Ertz isn't generating enough targets to be comfortable in the starting lineup this week against a defense that's only allowing 7.8 points per game to the position.

It would be best to find another streaming option this week.

Other Commanders recipients

The cycle continues with not knowing which Commander wide receivers should start other than McLaurin. Last week it was Noah Brown having a great fantasy day as he was the receiver who caught Daniels' Hail Mary ball.

Keep all of the other Commanders wide receiver options on the bench this week.
