College football scores, results: Georgia and Tennessee post big SEC wins

Week 8 was a big week for the SEC.

In the first of the evening's two big matches, No. 11 Tennessee overcame a difficult start to beat No. 7 Alabama 24-17 in a dramatic finale. Then, later, No. 5 Georgia welcomed No. 1 Texas to the SEC in fitting fashion, handing the Longhorns their first loss of the season in a 30-15 contest.

In other action, quarterback Brady Cook suffered an early injury before leading No. 19 Missouri to a win over Auburn with a gritty performance. Also broken on Saturday: Travis Hunter. Colorado's two-way star left at halftime after suffering a shoulder injury, but the Buffaloes didn't need him for a stunning win over Arizona.

No. 9 Iowa State remained undefeated this year with a late comeback win over a feisty UCF team. The Cyclones trailed by two touchdowns in the second half of a choppy game before recovering and scoring the game-winning touchdown in the final minute.

In the Big Ten, defending champion Michigan suffered its third loss of the season, falling to No. 22 Illinois, and USC lost its third straight conference game in a stunning game at Maryland.
