The second part of the sixth season of “Cobra Kai” continues the decades-long story of student-turned-sensei Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who will lead his Miyagi-Do students to hopeful victory alongside Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). infamously intense Sekai Taikai karate tournament.

Although the sixth season will be the last of the hit Netflix series, the final installment will be released in three parts, with the first five released last July, the second part releasing on November 28, and the final five episodes to follow in the year 2025 – it won't be the end of Daniel's screen journey, as an upcoming “The Karate Kid” film is also set to premiere next year.

Ralph Macchio recently sat down with Lee Cowan for a CBS News interview in which the actor discussed what it feels like to reprise his most famous role on the big screen forty years after the debut of the martial arts classic “The Karate Kid” in 1984 to play.

“Unique, truly unique. I don't know how many other experiences there are, with a unit, a piece of PP culture, coming back at this level 40 years later,” Macchio shared.

“For me it never went away, that’s the difference. For me, it's never gone away and it's never gone away from pop culture, whether it's an SNL skit, whether it's 'How I Met Your Mother' or, you know, 'The Simpsons' is in the Pop culture has always been lived.”

The karate dramedy “Cobra Kai” is known to be a spin-off of the “Karate Kid” legend when it first premiered as a YouTube Red series in 2018 and was then picked up by Netflix for seasons 3 to 6.

“It just keeps going,” Macchio says of the ever-expanding “The Karate Kid” universe, which could continue with even more spin-offs. “We'll see what happens with the other chapters when 'Cobra Kai' takes over as a spin-off. We have so many great young characters to explore.”

According to Macchio, a Broadway musical “The Karate Kid” is also in the works: “Robert Cayman wrote the original screenplay and wrote the book for the musical, it is currently in the workshop phase.”

And the upcoming 2025 film, in which Macchio teams up with Jackie Chan, will continue the LaRusso legacy. “It's really extraordinary. I feel a bit like Luke Skywalker in Star Wars style – he could be in The Mandalorian and Rogue One.” And that's why I don't take it lightly, and I certainly don't take it for granted. It is truly a great privilege and I am grateful to have it,” the actor added.

We'll see how Daniel LaRusso's story continues when Cobra Kai Season 6 returns with another five-episode run on November 28.
