    Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took a dramatic fall during a show in Australia before emerging from a hole in the stage, apparently uninjured.

    Video of the incident posted on social media showed Martin addressing the crowd at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on Sunday while walking around during a break between songs before suddenly disappearing from view.

    His fall appears to be broken by someone standing under the stage, and Martin soon returns to a standing position.

    “That’s, uh, not planned. Thanks for catching me. Thanks, guys,” Martin said.

    “Holy shit, that was almost a YouTube moment,” he added.

    Martin then continued with the show, which was the fourth and final performance in Melbourne as part of Coldplay's Music of the Spheres world tour.

    The first appearance in the city was also marked by an unpleasant development, as bassist Guy Berryman was unavailable due to illness.

    “Tonight was the first time in our band's history that we played a show without all four members on stage,” Coldplay said in a post on Instagram.

    “Guy got unexpectedly ill right before the show. Thank you for supporting us.”

    The band will next play four dates in Sydney before moving on to Auckland, New Zealand.

    The tour ends with ten shows at Wembley Stadium in London, starting on August 22nd next year.

    Martin's mishap comes after a similar incident with singer Olivia Rodrigo at a recent show at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena.

    The US pop star was running across the stage in the spotlight when she suddenly fell into a hole and seemed to catch herself with her arms.
