Cameron Johnson shines despite Nets loss against Pistons

The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Detroit Pistons 106-92 in a Sunday matinee. Brooklyn is 3-4, and this is also the first time the Nets have scored fewer than 100 points in a game this season.

It was a back-and-forth game until the final quarter as Detroit outscored Brooklyn 23-15 in the final 12 minutes. The Nets were completely shut out in the second half, scoring a combined 35 points.

Despite the loss, the star of the game was Cameron Johnson. The veteran forward scored eight points in the first two minutes and had 22 by the end of the first half.

Unfortunately, Brooklyn's momentum was halted when the Pistons shut him down. Johnson scored four points in the second half, shooting 2-9 and 0-6 from distance.

Despite the tough shots in the second half, Johnson once again shows why Brooklyn has some of the NBA's most valuable veteran role players. Particularly noteworthy are Johnson and Dennis Schroder.

Johnson is now averaging 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Schroder was even more impressive, averaging 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists. Schroder was passive that afternoon, taking just seven shots and making three of them.

Although the Nets were expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA this season based on their record, they surprised everyone. They returned to Earth this afternoon.

Brooklyn will face the Memphis Grizzlies for the second time this season tomorrow night. The Nets defeated the Grizzlies on the road on Wednesday, October 30, with an impressive win, 119-106.
