BULLDOGS WIN! Opelika Beats Central – High School Football Scoreboard

With less than three minutes left, Opelika's defense made a fourth-down stop, Calvin Hughley pushed the Bulldogs past midfield, then Reese Beasley carried Opelika to a historic, electrifying victory over Central-Phenix City.

Opelika won 23-14 in an all-timer.

The Bulldogs led 20-14 late, with the defending state champions driving near midfield trying to take the lead. The Opelika defense got a fourth down stop with 2:50 left. Hughley then broke off a run that, along with a 15-yard facemask penalty, brought the ball to the Central 29.

Beasley drilled a 48-yarder to extend a nine-point lead to 23-14 with 2:22 left after Opelika ran the ball, wasting the clock and Central's remaining timeouts.

Tyler Moore caught a central pass on the ensuing drive to end the game.
