The Golden State Warriors knew what they were getting when they acquired Buddy Hield this summer. He joined the franchise with a reputation as one of the NBA's best perimeter scorers, particularly as a motion shooter. He was the ideal addition to replace some of the perimeter scoring that the franchise lost when Klay Thompson moved to the Dallas Mavericks.

In his first two regular season appearances for the Warriors, Hield was one of the best players on the field. He is averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 75% from 3-point range and 69.2% from the field. What's encouraging for the Warriors is that Hield is putting up these numbers while coming off the bench for Kerr's team.

When speaking to the media before Golden State's blowout win over the Utah Jazz on Friday, October 25, Hield shared that he made the most of sharing the floor with Curry. The Warriors' newest sharpshooter admitted that he picked Curry's brain whenever possible to learn from the best shooter in league history.

“I studied him pretty darn well,” Hield said. “I’ve seen all of his highlights. I've seen all his games… The way he moves away from the ball and how everyone gravitates towards him is amazing. It's amazing how he figures everything out. I ask a lot of questions and try.” Get some advice. He's a good guy, man. I've been working on that.

Between Curry and Hield, the Warriors should have enough floor spacing and perimeter scoring to improve on their difficult 2023-24 season. Steve Kerr's team got off to a good start, winning both opening games by defeat.

It will be interesting to see if Kerr continues to use Hield off the bench or if the sharpshooter moves into the starting lineup at some point. However, at the moment he is making a splash with his new team and may be the bargain of the summer.
