Bucs star Chris Godwin suffers a serious ankle injury. The broadcast will not be shown in the loss to the Ravens

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered more than just a loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

After star receiver Mike Evans left the game early after re-aggravating a hamstring injury, his counterpart, Chris Godwin, was carted off the field with 43 seconds to play after suffering a horrific ankle injury that the ESPN broadcast refused to repeat.

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced that Godwin had suffered an ankle injury and that the usual time frame for recovery from such an injury would keep him out for the remainder of the season.

It was bad time for the Buccaneers, trailing 41-31 and facing a third-and-17, when quarterback Baker Mayfield found Godwin in the middle of the field and the receiver turned him upfield for the first down.

But as he did so, Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen rolled onto Godwin's leg and you could see that his left leg wasn't going the way it should have.

Godwin was clearly in pain as coaches and teammates quickly flocked to him to support him. He was air tossed onto the field and carted away.

Godwin caught seven of his nine receptions for 65 yards on the night, giving him 576 receiving yards on the year – the second-most in the NFL, behind only Cincinnati Bengals star Ja'Marr Chase.

Godwin was a real target for Mayfield, who led the NFL in that game with 15 passing touchdowns, five of which went to Godwin.

Godwin could have grabbed another touchdown in the first half tonight if there hadn't been an offensive layup that brought him back.

However, Evans found the end zone first for Tampa Bay on a 25-yard strike from Mayfield. However, he limped along on the sidelines as he tried to overcome a hamstring injury earlier in that game.

Two drives later, things got even worse when he was unable to catch another touchdown pass from Mayfield and the tackle by Brandon Stephens, who was also injured on the play, caused Evans to immediately grab his right hamstring.

ESPN reported that Bucs trainers who escorted him through the tunnel toward the locker room couldn't even put his shoe back on because of the pain.

Evans' injury could be serious going forward, but the Bucs have a good chance of him returning at some point.

Godwin, on the other hand, may have just played his final game as a Buccaneer as he is expected to be a free agent after the 2024 season.
