There were several 911 calls about a shooting that morning. When officers arrived at the scene, they located the victims, including the Broncos wide receiver.

In addition to Reynolds, another man was shot in the back and a third victim was injured by shattered glass. According to 9News, all three victims suffered abrasions while climbing over a fence.

Before the shooting, the victims said they were at Shotgun Willies, a strip club in Glendale. They left around 2:45 a.m. and reported there were no problems at the club. After they drove off, two drivers chased them and then shots were fired, according to 9News.

Denver police announced they had arrested two men in the case: Burr Charlesworth and Luis Mendoza.

Via 9News: “According to court documents, video from the strip club shows Mendoza entering the club shortly after midnight. The documents state that Mendoza did not engage with the entertainers but instead observed the victims. As they left, Mendoza followed them outside, documents say.

“Several other vehicles were seen pulling into the parking lot and the people in them appeared to be waiting for the victim to drive away, according to the documents. According to the documents, three vehicles were seen following the victims.”

“In most videos reviewed by investigators, Mendoza’s vehicle was directly behind the victims.”

Reynolds is currently on the Broncos' injured reserve due to a broken finger. On the year, he has 12 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. He hasn't played since Week 5, before the shooting.

Reynolds is the second NFL wide receiver to be the victim of a shooting this year. Before the season began, San Francisco 49ers first-round pick Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest. Pearsall opened the season on injured reserve and made his 2024 NFL debut last Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
