Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting in Denver after leaving the strip club

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds was injured in a shooting in Denver last week, the team confirmed Thursday. Two men were arrested for attempted murder.

According to a report from 9News, Reynolds and another man were injured in the early morning shooting on October 18 after they were chased out of a strip club.

“Josh Reynolds was the victim of a shooting in Denver on Friday and was treated for minor injuries,” the Broncos said in a statement. “Out of respect for the legal process, we will leave further comment on this matter to the authorities.”

A 911 caller told dispatchers around 3 a.m. that he had been shot while driving a blue Ford Bronco near East Hampden Avenue and South Dahlia Street, according to the news station, which obtained court documents in the case.

Two other people also called 911 to report the shooting. The dispatcher determined that GPS data placed all three callers in the area of South Quebec Street and East Union Avenue.

Officers went there and found all three victims. According to 9News, Reynolds was shot twice, in the left arm and the back of the head, and another man was shot in the back. A third victim was injured by shattered glass and all three suffered abrasions while climbing over a fence.

Officers later discovered the Bronco was parked on southbound Interstate 25 near Belleview Avenue and had multiple bullet marks on the rear driver's side and windshield. The news station's article also states that two spent shell casings were found behind the Bronco on I-25.

Reynolds and the other victims told police that they left Shotgun Willie's, a strip club in Glendale, around 2:45 a.m. after an uneventful visit, but that two drivers began following them in vehicles and toward them, according to 9News shoot. They said the vehicles continued to follow them as they got onto Interstate 25. Then the vehicle stopped moving and they ran away.

Earlier Wednesday, police said they had arrested two people on suspicion of attempted murder in the shooting.

Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, were both arrested on investigation of attempted murder and assault after they allegedly shot two men on southbound I-25 Friday, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.

Denver police closed the highway for several hours Monday to investigate the shooting and are working to identify additional suspects, the release said.

The Denver Post was unable to independently obtain court documents in the case.

Reynolds, 29, is in his first season with the Broncos and is currently not playing due to a finger injury.

Reynolds signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Broncos this spring. He played extensively early in the season, but broke a finger during a touchdown in Denver's Week 5 win over Las Vegas earlier this month.
