Braylon Mullins gives UConn basketball another top-25 commitment

Top-25 senior Braylon Mullins committed to UConn on Wednesday, giving Dan Hurley and the Huskies their third top-25 pick in the 2025 class.

Mullins chose UConn over home states Indiana and North Carolina, officially visiting all three programs and hosting coaches from all three schools several times in the past month.

“I felt playing for Coach Hurley was the best decision and fit me,” Mullins told ESPN. “After winning two national championships in a row, he knows how to win and that meant a lot to me.”

Hurley and his staff strengthened Mullins last spring by extending a scholarship offer and then bringing him to campus in the summer. Mullins pointed to the relationship he built with Hurley – as well as the opportunity to win a title – as key factors in his commitment.

“I also had a great relationship with Coach Hurley. We texted, talked and FaceTimed,” Mullins said. “The relationship I built with him and winning national championships worked together to help me and my decision. A national championship is the ultimate goal when you go to college. I want to have a chance at it.”

“(Hurley is a) very open person,” Mullins continued. “He will make you work hard. He gives you tough coaching. Some people don't like that. It brings out the best in me.”

Mullins, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard from Greenfield Central High School (Indiana), is one of the top scorers and shooters in the Class of 2025. He's ranked No. 24 in the ESPN 100 and built his track record over the spring and summer with Indiana Elite the Adidas 3SSB track significantly after struggling with a stress fracture during the high school season.

In 17 games over the 3SSB stretch, Mullins averaged 19.4 points and shot 47.3% from 3-point range – which meant at least four 3-pointers in nine games. He shot 6-for-3 in a May game against Upward Stats and made eight 3-pointers in an April game against DreamVision.

More than just a shooter, Mullins has the ability to read defenses, make good decisions and be an effective playmaker, whether in transition or in the half court. He is a movement shooter who knows how to move and get open without the ball.

“Braylon is a great decision maker who always makes the right play at the right time,” Greenfield Central coach Luke Meredith said. “In my opinion he is the best shooter in the country. Great vision, good size for his position, willing passer, good with both hands at finishing and passing, and an elite basketball IQ to boot. Just a special player and an even better young man.” “

Mullins is UConn's third top-25 commitment in the 2025 class – only one other school already has multiple top-25 recruits on its roster (Duke, with two).

Mullins joins Darius Adams (No. 19), who announced in late September, and Eric Reibe (No. 23), who committed last week. According to ESPN Research, this is the first time since the ESPN recruiting database launched in 2007 that UConn has had multiple top-25 recruits in the same class.

The Huskies have now landed 10 ESPN 100 candidates in the last three classes.
