Bowen Yang and Chappell Roan hug after their “SNL” debut

Bowen Yang and Chappell Roan hugged after the pop star's musical guest debut on Saturday Night Live Season 50.

During the curtain call, the two beloved characters were seen holding hands and excitedly talking to each other. Afterward, as the credits rolled, the Emmy-nominated lead actor and “Pink Pony Club” singer could be seen hugging. Yang appeared to congratulate Roan on his stunning debut, to which she responded, “Thank you.”

The heartwarming interaction also debunks any latent rumors and misinterpreted reactions to Yang's “Weekend Update” sketch from a few weeks ago, in which he impersonated the viral pygmy hippo Moo Deng and made a connection between the harassment shown to the animal and the vicious backlash in the social media against Roan.

“Oh my God. 'Taunts'???” Yang shared this on his Instagram Stories in response to fans who saw it as a shady portrayal. “If my personal stance and the piece aren’t clear about supporting her, then I think that’s it.”

Roan made her debut on the NBC sketch comedy series alongside six-time host and comedian John Mulaney in an episode leading up to Election Day on November 5th. The star-studded episode featured a last-minute guest appearance from Vice President candidate Kamala Harris. as well as Hilary Clinton's former Vice President Tim Kaine and SNL alum Pete Davidson. As she celebrated the accomplishment of her first performance earlier this week, the VMA winner posted a throwback to how she once wrote on Facebook in 2011, “I'm determined to be on SNL.”

During her time on the show, Roan also debuted a previously unreleased country song called “The Giver” about how she “does her job” and “only a woman knows how to treat a woman right.” With a knee-slapping beat and country twang, complete with a two-piece gingham outfit, Roan twirled and twirled on stage in front of an adoring crowd.
