Both Harris and Trump attend town hall meetings, but not in the same way

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have both agreed to attend town halls — but not in the same one.

The Republican presidential candidate will take part in a televised town hall on Fox News on Tuesday and will focus on “women's issues” as he tries to win back female voters from his Democratic rival.

The hour-long event, which will not be broadcast live, will feature an all-female audience and will cover a variety of topics, including economics, abortion, immigration and health care. Fox's Harris Faulkner will host and the show will air Wednesday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time.

The news comes after Trump recently declined invitations from Fox News and CNN to a debate about Harris in mid-October. Despite both networks making repeated offers, Trump posted on Truth Social on Wednesday in no uncertain terms: “THERE WILL BE NO REMATCH.” Harris had accepted the CNN debate but had not responded to FOX's invitation by Thursday's deadline.

The two presidential candidates debated each other only once, when they participated in ABC's presidential debate on September 10. Trump insisted he “won,” even though Harris was widely declared the winner. When asked about further debate dates, the former president said it was “too late” as early voting had already begun in some states. Until recently, final debates took place in mid- to late October.

Fox also extended a standing invitation to Harris for her town hall.

Harris attends CNN town hall

A week after Trump's Fox News Town Hall appearance, Harris will take part in an appearance hosted by CNN.

After Trump opted out of the CNN presidential debate, the network invited both candidates to attend separate town hall events later that month. CNN extended the invitations on Thursday, and the Harris campaign quickly accepted.

The vice president is scheduled to appear before voters in Pennsylvania on Oct. 23 alongside Anderson Cooper on CNN. This event will be broadcast live.

“Trump may want to hide from voters, but Vice President Harris welcomes the opportunity to share her vision for a new path forward for the country. She gladly accepts CNN's invitation to a live-televised town hall on October 23 in Pennsylvania,” Harris-Walz campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement to CNN.

Trump has not yet responded to CNN's offer.
