    Bills release Marquez Valdes-Scantling after two catches with the team

    The Buffalo Bills traded former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper. Someone had to leave to make room.

    Buffalo released Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Tuesday.

    Valdes-Scantling's Bills career ended after two catches and six games. That's one catch for every Super Bowl ring the seven-year veteran owns.

    Valdes-Scantling, 30, signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Bills in May after just winning two Super Bowl titles with the Kansas City Chiefs. He's a stocky, 6-foot-2 receiver who racked up more than 3,000 career yards as a deep threat and worked with future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

    Valdes-Scantling's reps declined throughout training camp, he was inconsistent in practice and didn't seem to develop a good rapport with Josh Allen. His snap count was 39% through the first six games.

    Buffalo acquired Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round draft pick.
