Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick didn't mince his words when sharing his thoughts on the New York Jets' decision to fire their head coach.

Belichick appeared to directly criticize Jets owner Woody Johnson for firing Robert Saleh during his appearance on ESPN's alternative “ManningCast” show during “Monday Night Football.”

“I'm not a big Jets fan, if you don't know,” he told Peyton and Eli Manning during the Jets' clash with the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. “You know what, Coach Saleh has done a good job with this program…

“It’s kind of like that with the Jets. They have rarely gained more than 30% in the last 10 years. The owner is the owner…ready, take aim.”

The Jets fired Saleh following their 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London in Week 5. The loss dropped the Jets to 2-3 on the season and 20-36 (.357 winning percentage) in three and a half seasons with Saleh at the helm .

The former 49ers defensive coordinator was the third head coach the Jets have fired since parting ways with Rex Ryan in 2014. Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles (2015-2018), Adam Gase (2019-2020) and now Saleh have all been unable to keep their job for longer than four seasons.

New York hasn't reached the postseason since 2010 and its record over the last 10 full seasons (from 2014 to 2023) is 55-108. The winning percentage during this period is 0.337.
