roommate, Big Meech is reportedly one step closer to being home. The Shade Room recently received confirmation of its status from a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons Demetrius Flenory'S Detention since Tuesday (October 15th).

What you should know about Big Meech's transfer

The Black Mafia Family co-founder has been moved from Florida's FCI Coleman prison to community detention. HuffPost editor Phil Lewis first reported on the transfer on October 16 on X.

In his case, community detention could mean home confinement or placement in a halfway house. Additionally, his inmate file indicates he is no longer in “BOP custody.” Federal Bureau of Prisons. A spokesperson confirmed the same information to The Shade Room by phone and in an emailed statement.

“On October 15, 2024, Demetrius Flenory was transferred from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Coleman Low to community confinement supervised by the Miami Residential Reentry Management (RRM) Office of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Community detention means that the person is either in home isolation or in a Residential Reentry Center (RRC or Halfway House). For privacy and security reasons, we do not disclose the exact location of an individual in community custody,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the placement will take place at a halfway house. Additionally, The Shade Room reached out to Lil Meech Jr. for comment on his father's reported release, but has yet to hear back from the actor.

TSR also contacted Big Meech's attorney, Brittany Barnett, for comment, but she did not provide an official statement. However, in a quote to TMZ, Barnett reportedly said she was “overjoyed” at his freedom after nearly 20 years behind bars. Additionally, she reportedly said that he spent his time pursuing personal development.

According to VIBE, Big Meech was first arrested in 2005 along with more than 100 others in a high-profile drug bust. Federal investigators accused Meech and his brother, Terry Lee “Southwest Tee” Flenory, of selling more than $270 million in cocaine across the country. They supposedly created this Black Mafia Family and positioned it as a label and creative agency to launder their revenue.

In 2008, the court sentenced Big Meech to 30 years in prison for drug trafficking, money laundering and conspiracy. Reports surfaced earlier this year about Meech's possible early releaseand 32 months of his sentence were expunged, according to Hot 97. In FebruaryHis son Lil Meech told “The Morning Hustle” hosts that his father was at FCI Coleman, a low-security facility.

Despite this recent transfer, it's unclear if and when Meech might be fully released. The 56-year-old's release date in his inmate file is January 27, 2026. The BOP spokesman confirmed that it was correct and could be updated regularly.
