PHOENIX – Our first fall storm is here, bringing gusty winds, cooler air, rain and snow to Arizona.

Here in the valley we see a slight chance for a few more light, patchy showers Saturday morning before things dry out again.

Up in the north, Advice on winter weather apply to the Kaibab Plateau, the Chuska Mountains and the Defiance Plateau. Roads, bridges and overpasses are likely to become slippery and dangerous. Travel to these areas is not recommended as heavy snow and poor visibility will create hazardous driving conditions through Saturday morning.

The first frosts of the season are also possible in many parts of the high country and throughout southeastern Arizona.

Freeze warnings are in effect for portions of Gila, Graham, Greenlee and Cochise counties Saturday morning and Sunday morning as temperatures may fall below 32 degrees. Frost and freezing conditions can impact delicate vegetation. Therefore, cover your plants when in these areas. Also bring your pets into the house.

Here in the valley, early morning low temperatures will drop into the 50s on Saturday morning and Sunday morning, marking the coolest temperatures since mid-April.

Daytime high temperatures will be nearly 10 degrees below normal, peaking at over 70 degrees in the Phoenix metropolitan area Saturday afternoon.

When high pressure returns next week, temperatures will rise again as our forecast remains sunny and dry.
