Bettors are backing Ohtani over Judge for World Series MVP

In a World Series full of MVPs, bettors are overwhelmingly choosing Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani over Aaron Judge and the rest of the New York Yankees' sluggers.

The match between the Yankees and Dodgers features five former MVPs, more than ever in a World Series. Ohtani has the best MVP chances of anyone. He is listed at +240 on ESPN BET. Judge is next at +550, closely followed by Yankees teammates Juan Soto (+600) and Giancarlo Stanton (+1,000), followed by Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts at +800.

The Dodgers' Ohtani, Judge, Betts, Stanton and Freddie Freeman (+3,500) each won MVPs.

At ESPN BET, more money was bet on Ohtani as World Series MVP than on Judge, Soto, Stanton, Betts and Freeman combined.

Ohtani has attracted approximately 31% of the money placed on BetMGM's odds to win the MVP, nearly four times as much as any other player.

The Dodgers say Ohtani will not pitch in the World Series and will be used exclusively as a hitter. He enters the World Series with 18 hits in his last 23 at-bats with runners in scoring position.

The betting favorite for MVP has won the award just once in the last nine World Series (Dodgers' Corey Seager in 2023).

The Dodgers remained small favorites to win the World Series all week. They were -125 favorites while the Yankees were +105 underdogs on ESPN BET heading into Game 1 on Friday.
