A non-conference matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and the New Orleans Pelicans takes place on Sunday evening. The Hawks have lost four straight games after winning their first two regular seasons. Their last loss was a 123-115 loss to the Sacramento Kings. The Hawks' top scorer was Trae Young with 25 points. Atlanta was outnumbered against Sacramento. De'Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cody Zeller are all currently injured. The Hawks' opponent in this game is also dealing with several serious injuries. The Pelicans will be without CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray and Herbert Jones. New Orleans just broke its own losing streak. They won 125-118 against the Indiana Pacers on Friday after losing three straight games. Zion Williamson led the team with 34 points and 10 assists. Brandon Ingram contributed 26 points.

The only way for Atlanta to break this losing streak is if Trae Young starts getting help from the players around him. Young is currently averaging 27.7 points per game, but is looking for a consistent secondary scorer given the Hawks' injury concerns. The Hawks' second-highest scoring players are Jalen Johnson with 16.3 points per game and Garrison Matthews with 13 points per game. In addition to the scoring woes, Atlanta struggled defensively and seemed to lack effort on that side of the ball. In their last game, the Hawks gave up 69 points in the first half and had to come back for the rest of the game. Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu will be tasked with slowing down Ingram and Williamson.
