Ariana Grande Talks Cynthia Erivo's 'Wicked' Poster Drama: 'It's Very Complicated'

Remember when Cynthia Erivo criticized a fan for editing her picture on the movie poster Evil? Well, Ariana Grande is finally sharing her thoughts.

This week, Grande showed her support for Erivo, who recently clapped back on social media after a fan edited it Evil Movie poster that resembles the original photograph of the musical piece (where Elphaba's face is in shadow). The 31-year-old singer didn't just comment on this Evil Controversy, but she also warned against artificial intelligence as a whole.

“I think it's very complicated because I find AI so contradictory and problematic at times, but I think it's just such a huge adjustment period,” Grande said diversity. “This is something much bigger than us and the fans are going to have fun and make their changes.”

Grande also supported her Evil co-star, adding, “I have a lot of respect for my sister Cynthia and I love her so much. “It's just a big adjustment period.”

The “7 Rings” singer added, “It's so much inspiration for something that's so much bigger than us.”

Grande was referring to Erivo's now-viral reaction to a fan-altered movie poster. When Erivo saw the edited picture, she immediately took to social media to share her thoughts. “This is the wildest and most offensive thing I have ever seen,” Erivo wrote. “None of this is funny. None of it is sweet. It humiliates me. It demeans us.”

She added: “The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION. I am a real human being who has chosen to look directly through the camera at you, the viewer… because without words, we communicate with our eyes.”

Evil hits theaters November 22nd.
