Anna Kendrick's directorial debut, Woman of the hourhas landed on Netflix.

It tells the shocking true story of how a serial killer managed to become a contestant on a dating show in the late 1970s, which of course piqued the interest of true crime fans.

The movie Kendrick narrated The Independent is that ““The Most Revealing Work I've Ever Made,” focuses on Rodney Alcala, who performed at The dating gameA Blind date Style show, 1978.

Alcala was 35 when he appeared on the show and is believed to have murdered at least five people, including a pregnant woman and a child.

Alcala's exact death toll is unknown, but investigators believe the man dubbed the “Dating Game Killer” may have killed at least 100 people.

He was ultimately convicted for his crimes in 1980 and was scheduled to die in prison in 2021. This was not before he had managed to woo contestant Cheryl Bradshaw on live television, played in the film by Kendrick himself.

It follows And Don't breathe Star Daniel Zovatto plays Alcala in the adaptation.

Cheryl would choose Alcala to go on a date with her, but their date never happened. Bradshaw backed out of the agreement because she allegedly found Alcala “creepy.”

Clips from reality The dating game Episodes are available online, but when Kendrick spoke to YouTube channel Jake's Takes, he revealed that they had to improvise parts of the film.

“The clips available online are fascinating, but the episode in its entirety seems to have been forgotten,” says Kendrick.

The 39-year-old actor added: “It was really fun to take advantage of that gap and use it as an opportunity to throw off Cheryl, because in the lost footage that probably didn't happen.”

Meanwhile, The Pitch perfect Star reflected on her time filming the popular vampire franchise Twilight – based on the fantasy book series by Stephenie Meyer – in an interview with Business Insider published on October 18th.

When asked if she sees her experience looking back on the Twilight films differently, Kendrick admitted that her contribution to the series was “really unique” compared to other cast members.

“Almost everyone else in the cast had to treat every moment as if life and death, good versus evil, our eternal souls were at stake – and all I had to do was show up and make a snarky comment while I was, so to speak frame went through the scene,” she said.

“I really felt like a spectator, so I was very grateful to be privy to this cultural phenomenon without it really affecting me in a way that I think would have been really challenging and overwhelming,” Kendrick continued.
